Summary

Product Identification

The 3M™ Liqui-Cel™ SP-2x6 Series Membrane Contactor is a membrane contactor designed for gas/liquid contacting applications.

Dimensions

  • Overall Length: 143 mm (5.6 in)
  • Diameter: 56 mm (2.2 in)
  • All dimensions are nominal values.

Membrane Characteristics

  • Cartridge Configuration: No Baffle Radial Flow
  • Membrane/Potting Material: Polyolefin / Polyethylene
  • Membrane Type:
    • UP Series: Recommended for low surface tension liquids that are water-based.
    • UP II Series: Recommended for low surface tension fluids with aggressive formulations.

Mechanical / Hydraulic

  • Liquid Flow Guidelines: 100 ml/min – 1 liter/min (Liquid must flow on the shellside)
  • Housing Material: Polyethylene
  • Connections:
    • Shellside (Liquid Inlet/Outlet): 1/4 inch NPT Female
    • Lumenside (vacuum): 1/4 inch NPT Female
  • Priming Volume (approximate):
    • Shellside: 77 ml
  • Weight (approximate):
    • Dry (UP Series / UP II Series): 140 grams
    • Water-filled (shellside-water): 220 grams

Operating Limits

  • Maximum Shellside LIQUID Working Temperature/Pressure:
    • UP Series:
      • 5-25°C: 4.1 barg (60 psig)
      • 50°C: 1.0 barg (15 psig)
    • UP II Series:
      • 5-25°C: 7.2 barg (105 psig)
      • 75°C: 1.0 barg (15 psig)
  • Note: Liquid pressure should always exceed gas pressure. If no vacuum is used, 1.0 barg (15 psig) can be added to the pressures above.

Regulatory

  • Complies with the limits as set by RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II; recasting 2002/95/EC.
  • Constructed of FDA CFR title 21 compliant materials for wetted parts only at ambient temperatures.
