Summary
Product identification
AvistaClean® MF 3000 is a low pH, proprietary powder cleaner for microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membrane systems. It is designed to remove calcium carbonate and metal foulants.
Operating limits
- Maximum cleaning temperature: 104°F (40°C), as allowed by the MF/UF module manufacturer.
Feed water
- Cleaning should be performed using reverse osmosis (RO) permeate, deionized water, or softened water.
- Do not dissolve cleaners in hard water.
Product water
- Not applicable to this product.
Product Information
Specifications

Instructions for Use
Cleaning Procedure
- Fill cleaning tank with RO permeate, deionized water, or softened water. Water volume should generally equal the total system volume, including hoses and cartridge filters.
- Heat water to the maximum temperature allowed by the MF/UF module manufacturer (usually 104°F / 40°C).
- Add AvistaClean MF 3000 to the hot water and dissolve thoroughly via recirculation or mechanical mixer.
- For moderate to severe fouling: create a 2% wt/wt solution.
- For mild fouling: create a 1% wt/wt solution.
- Recirculate the cleaner through the modules in the feed direction for 30 minutes (tubular designs only).
- Reverse flow direction and recirculate from exit to feed for an additional 30 minutes.
- For systems with back flush design, back flush with cleaning solution in the filtrate-to-feed direction for 15 minutes, in addition to the recommended procedure.
- Flush the system with soft water or suitable MF/UF filtrate.
