Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: RoClean L211
- Product Type: Liquid multicomponent, high pH buffered, low foaming cleaner
Application
RoClean L211 is formulated to remove colloidal silica, clay, organic color, and bioslime from reverse osmosis (RO) membranes. It is suitable for systems operating on seawater, brackish water, and wastewater where a liquid cleaner is preferred. It can be applied as a highly effective foulant remover, even for daily application if required.
RoClean L211 is certified by NSF International under NSF/ANSI Standard 60 for use as an offline cleaner in drinking water systems.
Instructions for Use (Cleaning)
- Fill the cleaning tank with RO permeate or deionized water.
- Heat the solution to the maximum acceptable temperature for the membrane manufacturer's guidelines.
- Add sufficient RoClean L211 to create a 2% wt/wt solution for moderate to severe fouling or a 1% wt/wt solution for mild fouling.
- Recirculate the solution to ensure adequate mixing.
- Run the cleaning solution through each RO system stage, one at a time, for a minimum of 60 minutes at the flow rate recommended by the membrane manufacturer (or as per guidelines in the full technical bulletin).
- If membranes are heavily fouled and the cleaning solution becomes discolored or turbid, discard up to 15% of the solution volume. Soaking for up to 8 hours may benefit heavily fouled elements.
- Monitor the pH during cleaning. If the pH remains in the desired range and the solution is clear, it can be used for subsequent stages. If the pH drops, prepare a new batch.
- After cleaning, rinse membranes by flushing with RO permeate.
