Roclean P703

Engineering summary from PDF text extraction for Roclean P703. Verify every value with the OEM datasheet.

Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: RoClean P703
  • Product Type: Powder cleaner
  • Intended Use: To remove metal foulants (iron, manganese, aluminum) from reverse osmosis (RO) membranes. Particularly successful on metal fouled borehole water plants.
  • Certification: Certified by NSF International under NSF/ANSI Standard 60 for use as an off-line cleaner in drinking water systems.

Operating limits

  • Temperature: Cleaning solution should be heated to the maximum acceptable temperature according to membrane manufacturer's guidelines.
  • pH (2% solution): 2.5-3.5

Feed water

  • Water Type for Mixing: RO permeate or deionized water.

Cleaning Procedure

  1. Solution Preparation: Fill cleaning tank with RO permeate or deionized water. Heat solution to appropriate temperature. Add RoClean P703 to achieve either a 1% wt/wt solution (mild fouling) or a 2% wt/wt solution (moderate to severe fouling). Recirculate for mixing.
  2. Cleaning Duration: Recirculate cleaning solution through each RO system stage for a minimum of 60 minutes at the membrane manufacturer's recommended flow rate.
    • For 4-inch diameter elements: 10 gpm (2.4 m³/hr) per vessel.
    • For 8-inch diameter elements: 40 gpm (9.0 m³/hr) per vessel.
  3. Heavily Fouled Membranes: Discard up to 15% of the solution volume if it becomes discolored or turbid. Soaking (up to 8 hours) may benefit heavily fouled elements.
  4. pH Monitoring: Monitor solution pH during cleaning. If pH rises, prepare a new batch.
  5. Rinsing: After cleaning, rinse membranes by flushing RO permeate through each pressure vessel.

Product Information

  • Appearance: White powder
  • Packaging Formats:
    • Pail (45 lb / 20 kg)
    • Carboy (90 lb)
    • Drum (350 lb)

Performance Benefits

  • Specialized blend of proprietary buffers, chelants, and reducing agents to dissolve metal deposits.
  • Superior to generic citric and hydrochloric acid solutions in the removal of metals and calcium carbonate scale.
  • Highly buffered to resist pH changes during the cleaning process.
  • Compatible with polyamide and cellulose acetate membranes from all major manufacturers.
  • Suitable for use with other Avista cleaners.

Storage

  • Store in a cool, dry place. Specific storage conditions are not detailed in the extract.
