Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: RoQuest® 3000
  • Product Type: Liquid coagulant
  • Brand: Avista

Application

RoQuest® 3000 is a multicomponent polymer coagulant designed for membrane use. It is applied to water sources with hard silt-based colloidal particulates, including particle-laden borehole sources or treated municipal supplies for industrial or drinking water. It is injected into the feedstream of multimedia and sand filters to enhance performance by reducing turbidity and color, thereby minimizing downstream reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) membrane fouling.

Feed water limits

  • Maximum Turbidity: 2.0 NTU (for raw waters)
  • Maximum Color: 10 units (for raw waters)

Operating limits and instructions

  • Injection Point: Inject at least 15 feet (5 m) upstream of multimedia filters.
  • Mixing: Allow proper mixing within the feedstream before filter introduction. Do not use static mixers upstream of filters, as shear can degrade polymers.
  • Dosing: Typical dose ranges from 0.5-4.0 mg/l. Refer to the RoQuest Coagulants Selection Guide and Avista Advisor for specific calculations. Significant overdosing may degrade filtered water quality.
  • Dilution: Can be diluted at a rate of 25:1 using dechlorinated water prior to injection to potentially improve effectiveness, though not generally necessary.
