Summary

Product Identification

  • Product Name: AWC® C-206
  • Description: Low pH Membrane Cleaning Compound

Advantages

  • Low pH membrane-cleaning compound for dissolution of carbonate and phosphate scales
  • Effectively dissolves and chelates iron, aluminum and other metal oxides
  • Chelates light deposits of pH independent precipitants such as calcium fluoride, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate and strontium sulfate
  • Compatible with all Thin Film Composite R.O. membranes from all major membrane suppliers
  • Certified by NSF to NSF/ANSI Standard 60

Typical Properties

  • Appearance: White granular powder
  • Odor: Characteristic
  • Solubility in water: Soluble
  • pH (1 % solution): 2.0 - 3.0

Chemical Feeding and Control

  • Use potable water free of residual chlorine or other oxidizing agents to prepare the cleaning solution.
  • Preparation: Add 8-10 lb of AWC C-206 for every 100 gallons of water (~1 wt% solution).
  • Adjust pH to between 2–3 by adding caustic soda or ammonium hydroxide in small increments.
  • Circulate the cleaning solution throughout the system without exceeding membrane manufacturer's recommended pressures, temperatures, and flow rates.
  • To improve cleaning efficacy, heat the cleaning solution and alternately circulate for 15 minutes and then soak membranes for 15 minutes. Repeat as necessary.
  • Add AWC C-206 as needed to maintain the pH range of 2–3 throughout the cleaning process.
  • Cleaning times will be recommended by your AWC representative based on fouling severity.

Safety & Handling

  • Avoid breathing dust. Do not get in eyes, on skin or clothing.
  • Keep container closed.
  • Wash thoroughly after handling.
  • Refer to the Safety Data Sheet for more information.

Packaging

  • 50 lb. pails
  • 400 lb. non-returnable plastic drums
