Summary
Product Identification
AWC® UF-432 is a low pH liquid membrane-cleaning compound designed for microfiltration and ultrafiltration systems.
Advantages
- Dissolves carbonate and phosphate scales from microfiltration and ultrafiltration surfaces and pores.
- Effectively dissolves and chelates iron, aluminum, and other metal hydroxides.
- Buffered to maintain pH range even with accidental overdosing.
- Does not interfere with downstream iron or aluminum coagulation in wastewater processes.
- Compatible with most UF/MF modules.
- Certified by NSF to NSF/ANSI Standard 60 for use in potable systems.
Typical Properties
- Appearance: Clear light yellow liquid
- Odor: Odorless
- Solubility in water: Complete
- pH (as is) @ 25˚C: < 2
- Specific Gravity: 1.17 ± 0.05
Chemical Feeding and Control
- Preparation: Use potable water free of residual chlorine or other oxidizing agents (RO permeate or DI water are preferred). Prepare a cleaning solution by adding 1 gallon of AWC UF-432 for every 100 gallons of water (~1% Solution), adjusted based on fouling severity.
- Temperature: Heat water to the maximum temperature allowed by the module manufacturer.
- Circulation: Circulate the cleaning solution throughout the modules with the filtrate valve closed in the feed direction for 30 minutes (for tubular designs), maintaining a pH of ~2. Reverse the flow direction and circulate for another 30 minutes. Repeat as needed until the solution pH remains stable for two consecutive readings.
- pH Monitoring: Measure the pH every 15 minutes. Add AWC UF-432 as necessary to maintain the pH range of ~2.
- Back Flushing: Systems allowing back flushing may be back flushed with cleaning solution from filtrate to feed for 15 minutes.
- Post-Cleaning: Flush modules with MF/UF filtrate after cleaning is finalized.
Safety & Handling
- Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area.
- Keep containers closed.
- Wash contaminated clothes before reuse.
- Wash thoroughly after handling.
- Refer to the Safety Data Sheet for more information.
Packaging
- 5 gallon pails
- 55 gallon non-returnable plastic drums
- 275 gallon totes
