Summary
Product identification
Belite® M8
Description
Belite M8 is a liquid antifoam product designed for controlling foaming and priming in seawater distillation plants. Its components are approved by the US FDA as food additives.
Application
Belite M8 is used to manage unpredictable foaming in seawater distillation, particularly in multi-stage flash plants. It is formulated with an ethylene oxide/propylene oxide block copolymer. The product is not water-soluble but forms a micro-emulsion at use concentrations (0.05 - 0.1 mg/l). During evaporation, it incorporates into bubble surface films, acting as a surfactant to reduce film strength and prevent stable foam formation, thereby ensuring uniform boiling/flashing and minimizing carry-over.
Usage
Consult with a BWA Water Additives representative for optimal dosage recommendations.
