Summary
Product identification
Flocon® B38
Description
Flocon B38 is a fast-acting, high-performance biocide designed for sanitization in reverse osmosis (RO) systems. It can also be used for periodic addition to feed water to control biofilm growth between system sanitization cycles.
Biofilm contamination in RO systems can lead to membrane fouling, reduced performance, irreversible damage to membrane polymers, and act as nucleation sites for scale and other deposits. Periodic biofilm removal is essential for maintaining optimal membrane efficiency.
Application
Flocon B38 is a high-performance sanitizer for RO systems with the following features:
- Fast-acting
- Effective at low concentrations
- Effective against a broad spectrum of microorganisms
- Compatible with thin-film composite membranes
- Non-corrosive at in-use concentrations
- Rapidly breaks down in the environment (susceptible to heat, light, and pH)
Usage
- Remove biological or organic fouling from membranes or other system components using an appropriate cleaner.
- Flush the system with permeate water.
- Remove inorganic scales or mineral deposits with appropriate cleaners before sanitizing.
- Prepare a 400 mg/l solution by dissolving 10 ml (0.34 oz) of Flocon B38 in 25 liters of permeate water.
- Fill the entire water circuit to be sanitized with the dilute solution.
- Circulate the solution for 30 minutes.
- Rinse the system with permeate water, diverting rinse water to drain, to remove product residues.
- Do not reuse sanitizing solutions.
