Summary

Product Identification

  • Product Name: PermaTreat® PC-1020T
  • Product Type: RO Membrane Antiscalant
  • Manufacturer: Nalco Company

Benefits

  • Approved by NSF for potable treatment applications.
  • Highly effective scale inhibitor across a broad spectrum of water qualities.
  • Minimizes carbonate and sulphate scaling and cleaning costs.
  • Replaces the need for acid dosing in many applications.
  • Compatible with all types of membranes based on polyamide chemistries.
  • Effective iron sequestrant.
  • More stable and effective than sodium hexametaphosphate and most polymeric antiscalants.
  • Contains patented TRASAR for optimum control of dosage, protecting against under- and overdosing.

Description

PermaTreat PC-1020T is a threshold agent capable of stabilizing a wide range of supersaturated salt solutions. It contains TRASAR for improved reliability of scale control through consistent dosing.

Uses

Designed for use as an antiscalant in RO systems.

Dosage

The required dosage depends on water chemistry and site-specific parameters. A Nalco representative will recommend the optimum dosage. The PermaCare® RO11 chemical projection computer program is recommended for determining optimum dosage.

Feeding

  • Should be fed via a closed system.
  • A closed system is defined as a system where fluid is moved from a closed storage vessel into a treated medium without atmospheric exposure, except through normal venting or pressure relief devices.
  • Should be fed continuously to minimize scale precipitation and fouling of RO and nano-filtration membranes.
  • It is recommended to operate the dosing pump with the highest possible frequency and adjust dosage by pump stroke for membrane protection.

Materials for Storage and Application Equipment

  • Recommended: PVC, PE, Teflon, or Stainless Steel.
  • Do not use Aluminum, Brass, or Carbon steel in contact with the neat product.

Handling

  • Standard precautions include the use of protective equipment such as goggles and rubber gloves.
  • Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet for official Environmental and Safety information.

Storage

  • Can be stored for at least 12 months from the date of shipping if kept in its original, unopened container and under normal warehouse conditions.
  • Protect from freezing and exposure to high temperatures.

Availability

Available in non-returnable containers and PORTA-FEED® units of different sizes.
