Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: PermaTreat® PC-391T
- Product Type: RO Membrane Antiscalant
- Brand: PERMATREAT
- Manufacturer: Nalco Company
Benefits
- Approved by NSF for potable water treatment applications.
- Effective scale inhibitor across a broad spectrum of water qualities.
- Minimizes carbonate and sulfate scaling.
- Reduces cleaning costs.
- May replace the need for acid dosing in many applications.
- Compatible with all polyamide-based RO membranes.
- Effective iron sequestrant.
- More stable and effective than sodium hexametaphosphate and most polymeric antiscalants.
Uses
PermaTreat PC-391T is designed for use as an antiscalant in RO systems. It contains patented TRASAR technology for optimum dosage control to protect the system against under- and over-dosing.
Description
PermaTreat PC-391T contains TRASAR for improved reliability of scale control by assuring consistent dosing. It is a blend of threshold agents and dispersants capable of stabilizing a wide range of supersaturated salt solutions.
Dosage
The required dosage of PermaTreat PC-391T depends on water chemistry and site-specific parameters. A Nalco representative will recommend the optimum dosage for maximum program performance according to specific system conditions. The PermaCare® RO11 chemical projection computer program can be used to determine the optimum product dosage.
Feeding
- PermaTreat PC-391T should be fed via a closed system.
- A closed system is defined as a system where fluid is moved from a closed storage vessel into a treated medium without atmospheric exposure, except through normal venting or pressure relief devices.
- Feed continuously to minimize precipitation of scale and fouling of RO and nanofiltration membranes.
- Operate the dosing pump with the highest possible frequency and adjust dosage by pump stroke to ensure membrane protection.
Materials
Storage and application equipment (pumps and lines) should be made of:
- PVC
- PE
- Teflon
- Stainless Steel
Do not use Aluminum, Brass, or Carbon steel in contact with the neat product.
Handling
Standard precautions include the use of protective equipment such as goggles and rubber gloves when handling. Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet for environmental and safety information.
Storage
The product can be stored for at least 12 months from the date of shipping if kept in its original, unopened container and under normal warehouse conditions. Protect from freezing and exposure to high temperatures.
Availability
PermaTreat PC-391T is available in non-returnable containers and PORTA-FEED® units of different sizes.
