Summary
Product identification
AvistaClean® MF 3000 is a low pH, proprietary powder cleaner for microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membrane systems. It removes calcium carbonate and metal foulants. It can be used sequentially with AvistaClean MF 1000 or MF 1000A for colloidal and/or organic foulants. It is compatible with MF/UF modules from all major manufacturers.

Instructions for Use
Cleaning
General guidelines for cleaning MF/UF systems:
- Fill the cleaning tank with reverse osmosis (RO) permeate, deionized water, or softened water. Do not use hard water. The water volume should generally equal the total volume of the system, hoses, and cartridge filters.
- Heat the water to the maximum temperature allowed by the MF/UF module manufacturer, usually 104°F (40°C).
- Add AvistaClean MF 3000 to the hot water and thoroughly dissolve it by recirculation or mechanical mixing.
- For moderate to severe fouling: Create a 2% wt/wt solution.
- For mild fouling: Create a 1% wt/wt solution.
- For tubular designs: Recirculate the cleaner through the modules in the feed direction for 30 minutes. Then, reverse the flow direction for an additional 30 minutes.
- For back flush designs: In addition to the recommended cleaning procedure, back flush with the cleaning solution in the filtrate-to-feed direction for 15 minutes.
- Flush the system with soft water or suitable MF/UF filtrate.
Consult your system's manufacturer for more detailed instructions and always review the SDS before use.
