Product Identification

RoClean L211 is a liquid, multicomponent, high pH buffered, low foaming cleaner.

Applications

• Removes colloidal silica, clay, organic color, and bioslime from reverse osmosis (RO) membranes.
• Successfully applied to systems operating on seawater, brackish water, and wastewater.
• Gentle enough for daily application.
• Certified by NSF International under NSF/ANSI Standard 60 for use as an offline cleaner in drinking water systems.

Cleaning Instructions

1. Fill the cleaning tank with RO permeate or deionized water.
2. Heat the solution to the maximum acceptable temperature (according to membrane manufacturer's guidelines).
3. Add RoClean L211 to achieve a:
   • 2% wt/wt solution for moderate to severe fouling.
   • 1% wt/wt solution for mild fouling.
4. Recirculate the solution for adequate mixing.
5. Run the cleaning solution through each RO system stage for a minimum of 60 minutes at the membrane manufacturer's recommended flow rate. Guidelines for unknown rates:
   • 4-inch element diameter: 10 gpm (2.4 m³/hr) per vessel
   • 8-inch element diameter: 40 gpm (9.0 m³/hr) per vessel
6. For heavily fouled membranes where the cleaning solution becomes discolored or turbid, discard up to 15% of the solution volume.
7. Heavily fouled elements may benefit from soaking up to 8 hours.
8. Monitor the pH during cleaning. If it remains in the desired range and the solution is not turbid, it can be used for subsequent stages. If the pH falls, prepare a new batch.
9. After cleaning, rinse membranes by flushing with RO permeate.
