Summary
Product Identification
- Product Name: RoClean P111
- Product Type: Cleaner
- Form: Powder
- Intended Use: For cleaning reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) membranes.
Product Description
RoClean P111 is a multicomponent, high pH buffered cleaner designed to remove biological fouling, humic and fulvic acids, organics, colloidal material, and clays from RO and NF membranes. It is suitable for systems operating on seawater, brackish water, and wastewater. The product is temperature compensated to maintain an effective pH range across varying solution temperatures.
RoClean P111 is NSF/ANSI Standard 60 certified for off-line use in drinking water systems.
Specifications
- Appearance: White powder
- pH (2% solution): 10.5-11.5
Performance Benefits
- A specialized blend of proprietary buffers to dissolve organic foulants and disperse colloidal particles.
- Highly buffered to resist pH changes during the cleaning process.
- Compatible with polyamide membranes from all major manufacturers.
Instructions for Use - Cleaning Procedure Summary
- Fill cleaning tank with RO permeate or deionized water.
- Heat solution to the maximum acceptable temperature for the membrane.
- Add RoClean P111 to create a 1% wt/wt solution for mild fouling or a 2% wt/wt solution for moderate to severe fouling. Recirculate for mixing.
- Run cleaning solution through each RO system stage one at a time for a minimum of 60 minutes at the membrane manufacturer's recommended flow rate. Guidelines for 4-inch diameter elements: 10 gpm (2.4 m³/hr) per vessel; for 8-inch diameter elements: 40 gpm (9.0 m³/hr) per vessel.
- For heavily fouled membranes, up to 15% of the solution may be discarded if it becomes discolored or turbid. A soak period of up to 8 hours may be beneficial.
- Monitor solution pH during cleaning. If the pH remains in range and the solution is clear, it can be used for subsequent stages. Prepare a new batch if the pH drops.
- After cleaning, rinse membranes by flushing with RO permeate. The system can then be returned to service.
Packaging and Storage
- Formats: Pail, Fiber carboy, Fiber drum
- Weights: 45 lb, 90 lb, 350 lb (Americas/Asia); 20 kg (EMEA)
