Summary
Product Identification
- Product Name: RoClean P303
- Product Type: Powdered cleaner for RO/NF membranes
- Formulation: Multicomponent, low pH buffered cleaner
Applications
RoClean P303 is formulated to remove acid-removable scales and foulants from reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, including metals and calcium carbonate. It is suitable for systems operating on seawater, brackish water, and wastewater.
Key Performance Benefits
- Specialized blend of proprietary buffers, chelants, surfactants, and dispersants.
- Superior to generic citric and hydrochloric acid solutions in removing metals and calcium carbonate scale.
- NSF certified for off-line use in systems producing drinking water.
- Highly buffered to resist pH changes during cleaning.
- Temperature compensated to maintain optimum pH over a wide temperature range.
- Compatible with both polyamide and cellulose acetate membranes from all manufacturers.
- Suitable for use with other Avista cleaners.
Instructions for Use
- Fill the cleaning tank with RO permeate or deionized water.
- Heat the solution to the maximum acceptable temperature recommended by the membrane manufacturer.
- Add RoClean P303 to create a 1% wt/wt solution for mild fouling or a 2% wt/wt solution for moderate to severe fouling. Recirculate for adequate mixing.
- Run the cleaning solution through each RO system stage sequentially for a minimum of 60 minutes at the membrane manufacturer's recommended flow rate.
- For heavily fouled membranes, discard up to 15% of the solution if it becomes discolored or turbid. A soaking period of up to 8 hours may also be beneficial.
- Monitor the solution pH. If it remains in the desired range and the solution is clear, it can be used for subsequent stages. Prepare a new batch if the pH rises.
- After cleaning, rinse membranes by flushing with RO permeate.
