Summary
Product Identification
- Product Name: RoClean P911
- Product Type: Cleaner
- Form: Powder
Description
RoClean P911 is a multicomponent, high pH buffered cleaner designed to remove high levels of organic foulants, including humic and fulvic acids, from reverse osmosis (RO) membranes. It is a low foaming cleaner effective against silt and organic foulants such as colloidal silica, clay, organic color, and bioslime. The product is temperature compensated to maintain optimal pH across a range of temperatures.
Performance Benefits
- Specialized blend of proprietary buffers and other components to dissolve organic foulants and disperse colloidal particles.
- Superior to generic solutions.
- Highly buffered to resist pH changes during cleaning.
- Compatible with polyamide membranes from all major manufacturers.
- Suitable for use with other Avista cleaners.
- Certified to NSF/ANSI 60.
Instructions for Use
Cleaning Procedure Summary
- Fill cleaning tank with RO permeate or deionized water.
- Heat the solution to the maximum acceptable temperature (per membrane manufacturer's guidelines).
- Add sufficient RoClean P911 to create a 4.5% wt/wt solution. Recirculate for mixing.
- Recirculate the cleaning solution through each RO system stage (one at a time) for a minimum of 60 minutes at the membrane manufacturer's recommended flow rate, or use guidelines provided in the full technical bulletin.
- For heavily fouled membranes, discard up to 15% of the solution volume if it becomes discolored or turbid. A soaking period (up to 8 hours) may be beneficial.
- Monitor the pH. If it remains in the desired range and the solution is not turbid, it can be used for subsequent stages. If pH drops, prepare a new batch and repeat the process.
- After cleaning, rinse membranes by flushing with RO permeate.
