Summary
Product identification
Vitec® 1200 is a liquid antiscalant for RO/NF membrane systems.
Operating limits
- NSF/ANSI 60 Certification: Certified for use in systems producing drinking water.
Feed water
- Designed for feedwaters with potential concentrations of inorganic fouling.
Product water
- When used as recommended, Vitec 1200 will prevent scale formation at a lower dose.
Performance Benefits
- Scale Inhibition: Effective against calcium carbonate (CaCO₃), calcium sulfate (CaSO₄), barium sulfate (BaSO₄), strontium sulfate (SrSO₄), calcium fluoride (CaF₂), and tri-calcium phosphate (Ca₃(PO₄)₂).
- Iron Control: Inhibits iron metal oxides.
- Silica Control: Inhibits silica.
- Membrane Compatibility: Compatible with polyamide and cellulose acetate RO/NF membranes from all manufacturers.
- Coagulant Compatibility: Compatible with the Avista® RoQuest® line of coagulants.
- Acid Reduction: May eliminate the need to inject acid.
- Cleaning Frequency: Decreases the frequency of membrane cleanings.
- Operating Costs: Reduces overall operating costs.
Instructions for Use
- Injection Point: Inject downstream of multimedia filters and upstream of cartridge filters.
- Dosing:
- Typical dose: 2-5 mg/l.
- Site-specific dose determination can be performed using Avista Advisor software.
- Dilution:
- Formulated to be injected neat.
- If dilution is required, use deionized water or RO permeate. Softened water may be substituted if the others are unavailable.
- Dilution should not result in a solution strength of less than 10% to protect the internal bacteriostat.
Product Information
- Appearance: Clear, colorless
- pH (as supplied): < 2.0
- Specific Gravity (25°C): 1.05-1.15
Packaging and Storage
- Protection: Protect from freezing.
- Available Formats: Pail (45 lb), Drum (500 lb), IBC tote (2500 lb). Bulk tanker delivery is available on request.
