Summary
Product identification
Vitec® 1400 is a liquid antiscalant.
Operating limits
Dosing
- A typical Vitec 1400 dose ranges from 2-5 mg/l.
- A site-specific dose can be determined using the Avista Advisor software program.
Dilution
- Vitec 1400 is formulated to be injected neat.
- If dilution is required, use deionized water or RO permeate.
- Softened water may be substituted if deionized or RO permeate are not available.
- The dilution should not result in a solution strength of less than 10%.
Feed water
Vitec® 1400 is designed to inhibit scale in municipal feedwaters where there is potential for high concentrations of inorganic fouling, or high hardness ground waters.
Product water
Certified by NSF International under NSF/ANSI Standard 60 for use in systems producing drinking water.
Performance Benefits
- Proven effective against the following types of scale:
- Calcium Carbonate (CaCO₃)
- Calcium Sulfate (CaSO₄)
- Barium Sulfate (BaSO₄)
- Strontium Sulfate (SrSO₄)
- Calcium Fluoride (CaF₂)
- Tri Calcium Phosphate (Ca₃(PO₄)₂)
- Compatible with polyamide and cellulose acetate RO/NF membranes from all manufacturers.
- Compatible with the Avista® RoQuest® line of coagulants.
- May eliminate the need to inject acid.
- Prevents scale formation and decreases the frequency of membrane cleanings.
- Environmentally friendly where discharge of waste is a concern.
Specifications
- Appearance: Clear, colorless
- pH (as supplied): 3.5 - 4.5
- Specific Gravity (25°C): 1.05-1.10
Mechanical / Hydraulic
Injection Point
Best results are achieved when Vitec 1400 is injected downstream of multimedia filters and upstream of cartridge filters.
Packaging and Storage
- Standard regional pack sizes: Pail (45 lb), Drum (500 lb), IBC tote (2500 lb).
- Information on drumless or bulk tanker delivery is available on request.
- Vitec 1400 should be protected from freezing.
