Vitec® 5100

Engineering summary from PDF text extraction for Vitec® 5100. Verify every value with the OEM datasheet.

Summary

Product identification

Vitec® 5100 is a broad-spectrum, liquid antiscalant and dispersant. It is a multicomponent formulation designed for preventing scale precipitation in larger systems and is particularly cost-effective in seawater and municipal reverse osmosis (RO) applications. Vitec 5100 is compatible with RoQuest® coagulants and certified by NSF International under NSF/ANSI Standard 60 for use in systems producing drinking water.

Operating limits

Feed water

  • Highly effective at low dose rates in a wide variety of feedwaters and pH ranges.
  • Compatible with polyamide and cellulose acetate RO membranes from all manufacturers.

Product water

  • Certified by NSF International under NSF/ANSI Standard 60 for use in systems producing drinking water.

Dosing

  • Typical Vitec 5100 dose ranges from 2-5 mg/l.
  • A site-specific dose can be determined using the Avista Advisor software program.
  • Inject upstream of the membrane system and, where possible, of cartridge filters.

Dilution

  • Formulated to be injected neat.
  • If dilution is required, use deionized water or RO permeate. Softened water may be substituted if deionized water or RO permeate is unavailable.
  • Dilution should not result in a solution strength of less than 10% to protect the effectiveness of the internal bacteriostat.

Specifications

  • Appearance: Clear, amber liquid
  • pH (2% solution): 5.0-6.5
  • Specific gravity (@25°C): 1.05 - 1.15

Performance benefits

  • Powerful against scale formation including: Calcium Carbonate (CaCO₃), Calcium Sulfate (CaSO₄), Barium Sulfate (BaSO₄), Strontium Sulfate (SrSO₄), Calcium Fluoride (CaF₂), and Silica (SiO₂).
  • Highly effective at low dose rates.
  • Controls scale and inorganic fouling.
  • Compatible with polyamide and cellulose acetate RO membranes, polyelectrolyte, and RoQuest® coagulants.

Packaging and Storage

Standard regional pack sizes: Pail (45 lb / 23 kg), Drum (500 lb / 230 kg), IBC tote (2500 lb / 1100 kg). Information on drumless or bulk tanker delivery is available on request.
