Summary
Product identification
Vitec® 5100 is a liquid antiscalant/dispersant.
Performance
- Powerful inhibitor against a variety of scales, including:
- CaCO₃ (CCPP ≤ 900, LSI ≤ 2.8)
- CaSO₄ (3.0 x Ksp)
- BaSO₄ (10⁵ x Ksp)
- SrSO₄ (20 x Ksp)
- CaF₂ (1000 x Ksp)
- SiO₂ (120 ppm)
- Highly effective at low dose rates in a wide range of feedwater types and pH ranges.
- Compatible with polyelectrolytes.
- Provides both scale and inorganic fouling control.
- Compatible with all membrane types.
- Formulated to inhibit scale and disperse colloidal particles in cellulose acetate and polyamide membrane separation systems.
- Certified by NSF International under ANSI/NSF Standard 60 for use in systems producing potable water.
- Compatible with Avista’s RoQuest® organic coagulants.
Application
- Inject upstream of the membrane system and, where possible, upstream of cartridge filters.
Dosing Guidelines
- Typical dosage range: 2 to 5 ppm.
- A site-specific dose can be determined using the Avista Advisor computer program.
- Contact Avista customer service for customized dosing instructions.
Dilution
- Product is formulated to be injected neat.
- If dilution is required, use demineralized or RO permeate water. Softened water may be substituted if the above are unavailable.
- Dilution should not result in a solution strength of less than 10% to protect the internal bacteriostat.
Specifications
- Appearance: Clear, yellow liquid
- pH (2% solution): 5.0 – 6.5
- Specific Gravity @ 20°C: 1.10 ± 0.05
Packaging and Storage
- Standard regional pack sizes:
- Pails: 45 lbs (23 kgs)
- Drums: 500 lbs (230 kgs)
- IBC’s (totes): 2500 lbs (1100 kgs)
- Custom packaging is available.
- Information on drumless or bulk tanker delivery is available on request.
NSF Certification
- Certified by NSF International to NSF/ANSI 60 for use as a drinking water treatment chemical in reverse osmosis systems at a maximum level of 13 mg/l.
