Summary
Product identification
ROPUR RPI-4500A is a scale inhibitor specially designed for RO systems.
General
RPI-4500A is a stabilized solution of organic phosphonates and polyacrylates. It is effective against calcium, strontium, and barium sulphate scales, as well as calcium carbonate scales. It also prevents silicate scale formation. RPI-4500A is suitable for use with polyamide, cellulose acetate, and polyether membranes with anionically charged surfaces.
Application and Dosage
- Use: Highly efficient scale inhibitor for cellulose acetate and polyamide membranes. No interaction with membrane material.
- Dosage Control: Proportional to feed water flow using standard metering pumps.
- Fitting Materials: PE, PP, or coated steel.
- Dilution: Can be diluted with water in any ratio. Injecting undiluted or as a solution up to 10% is recommended. Diluted solutions must be consumed within 48 hours.
- Dosage Level: 1 – 8 ppm as delivered, depending on operating conditions and water composition.
- Handling: Easy to handle, no aggressive components. pH is slightly acidic.
- Container Cleaning: Clean containers with a 10% sodium bisulphate solution periodically to avoid biological fouling.
Physical Properties
- Appearance: Clear, slightly yellow liquid
- Density: 1.14 – 1.17 g/cm³
- pH-value: 4.0 – 4.3
- Freezing point: -10 °C
- Boiling point/boiling range: 100 – 105 °C
- Solubility in water: Unlimited
RPI-4500A complies with EU regulations CEN/TS 164, EN 15039, and EN 15040 for the treatment of water intended for human consumption.
Storage & Handling
