BEL Pressure Vessels are designed as housings for 4", 8", 9", and 16" spiral-wound Reverse Osmosis (RO), Nanofiltration (NF), and Ultrafiltration (UF) membrane elements. This technical manual specifically addresses the 4" Side Port vessel.

These pressure vessels are manufactured from filament wound fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) with a superior epoxy resin, ensuring high physical strength and a smooth internal surface.

Operating limits

• Application: Designed for water treatment only.
• Permeate Port Pressure: Must not exceed 125 psi (8.6 bar).
• Continuous Operating Temperature: Should not be continuously operated at temperatures above 120°F (49°C).
• Pressure Testing: Each vessel is tested at 110% of the design pressure; however, long-term operation above design pressure must be prevented.
• Operating a vessel outside its design limits will void the warranty.

• Construction Material (Vessel Body): Glass/Epoxy.
• Membrane Element Capacity (4" Vessels):
  • 1-6 elements for 40" membrane length.
  • 1-12 elements for 21" membrane length.

• Seals: EPDM.
• Installation Requirements:
  • Must be installed horizontally on support saddles.
  • Mounting design must allow for radial expansion up to 0.5 mm and axial expansion up to 2-3 mm.
  • Flexible piping connections are recommended to prevent unwanted load transfer; a U-bend pipe with flexible connections is suggested for the permeate port.
• Victaulic Connection (1" Side Port) Maximum Offsets:
  • Max Angle: 2.5 Deg
  • Max Offset: 3 mm
  • Spacing (X): 2 + 0.5 mm
• Head Assembly Lengths (for shimming purposes):
  • 300/450 psi vessels: 110 mm
  • 600/1000/1200 psi vessels: 135 mm
  • A space of 1 mm should remain for retaining ring/locker installation after shimming.
