Summary
Product Identification
The CodeLine Model 80E30 Fiberglass RO Pressure Vessel is designed for continuous, long-term use as a housing for reverse osmosis membrane elements. It is intended to desalt typical brackish waters at pressures up to 300 psi. The vessel accommodates any make of eight-inch nominal diameter spiral-wound element, with appropriate interfacing hardware furnished.
The CodeLine Model 80E30 is designed in accordance with the engineering standards of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME Code).
Operating Limits
- Design Pressure: 300 PSI at 120°F (2.1 MPa @ 49°C)
- Minimum Operating Temperature: 20°F (-7°C)
- Permeate Pressure Limit: Do not exceed 125 psi at 120°F (0.86 MPa @ 49°C)
- Operating pH Range: Do not operate below 3 or above 10
- Factory Test Pressure:
- CE: 450 PSI (3.1 MPa)
- ASME: 390 PSI (2.7 MPa)
- Burst Pressure: 1800 PSI (12.4 MPa)
Mechanical / Hydraulic
- The high performance reinforced plastic shell must be allowed to expand under pressure.
- Shell Expansion: For a length code –7 vessel, expect a change in diameter (∆DIA) of 0.015 in. (0.4mm) and a change in length (∆L) of 0.2 in. (5mm).
- Maximum Weight of Branch Piping:
- Feed/Concentrate: 16 lbs (7.3 kg)
- Permeate: 8 lbs (3.6 kg)
Construction Materials
- Shell: Filament Wound Epoxy/Glass composites - SS. Head locking grooves integrally wound in place.
- Bearing Plate: 6061-T6 Aluminium Alloy-Hard Anodized.
- Sealing Plate: Engineering Thermoplastic.
- Feed/Conc Port: 316L Stainless Steel.
- Port Retainer: 304 Stainless Steel.
- Permeate Port: Engineering Thermoplastic.
- Head Seal: Ethylene Propylene - O Ring (442).
- Port Seal: Ethylene Propylene - O Ring (225).
- Retaining Ring: 316 Stainless Steel.
- Saddle: Engineering Thermoplastic.
- Strap Assy.: 304 Stainless Steel - PVC cushion.
- Strap screw: 5/16-18 UNC, 18-8 Stainless Steel.
- Adapter: Engineering Thermoplastic.
- PWT Seal: Ethylene Propylene - O - Ring.
- Adapter seal: Ethylene Propylene - O - Ring (124).
- Thrust Ring: Engineering Thermoplastic.
Installation & Operation Precautions
- Read, understand, and follow all instructions to avoid voiding warranty or vessel failure.
- Mount the shell on horizontal members at span “S” using compliant vessel supports; tighten hold down straps just snug.
- Provide overpressure protection for the vessel set at not more than 105% of design pressure.
- Inspect end closures regularly; replace deteriorated components and correct causes of corrosion.
- Do not make rigid piping connections to ports or clamp the vessel in any way that resists growth of the fiberglass shell under pressure.
- Do not hang piping manifolds from ports or use the vessel to support other components.
- Do not operate the vessel at pressures and temperatures in excess of its rating.
- Do not operate the vessel without permeate ports internally connected with a complete set of elements and interconnecting hardware.
- Do not overtighten the connection to the permeate port (hand-tighten plus one-quarter turn, then check for leaks).
- Do not tolerate leaks or allow end closures to be routinely wetted.
- Do not pressurize the vessel until double-checking to verify that the retaining ring is completely inside the groove.
- Do not work on any component until first verifying that pressure is relieved from the vessel.
