It accommodates any make of eight-inch nominal diameter spiral-wound element. The vessel is designed in accordance with the engineering standards of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code.

Operating Limits

  • Design Pressure: 600 PSIG at 190°F (4.1 MPa at 88°C)
  • Minimum Operating Temperature: 20°F (-7°C)
  • Factory Test Pressure:
    • CE: 900 PSIG (6.20 MPa)
    • ASME: 660 PSIG (4.55 MPa)
  • Qualification Pressure: 3600 PSI (24.8 MPa)
  • Maximum Permeate Pressure: 125 psi at 190°F (0.86 MPa at 88°C)
  • pH Range: 3-10

Intended Use

The vessel is intended to desalt typical brackish waters at pressures up to 600 psi.

Precautions

  • Mount the shell on horizontal members at span “S” using compliant vessel supports.
  • Align and center side ports with the manifold header.
  • Use flexible type grooved-end pipe couplings (e.g., Victaulic® Style 77 or equivalent) at side ports, allowing a 0.125 inch gap.
  • Provide flexibility in and support for piping manifolds to accommodate vessel growth under pressure.
  • Provide overpressure protection set at no more than 105% of design pressure.
  • Inspect end closures regularly and replace deteriorated components.
  • Lubricate seals sparingly with non-petroleum based lubricants (e.g., Parker Super O-lube®, Glycerin, or suitable silicone-based lubricants).
  • Do not work on any component until pressure is relieved from the vessel.
  • Do not make rigid piping connections or clamp the vessel in a way that resists shell growth under pressure.
  • Do not hang piping manifolds from ports or use the vessel to support other components.
  • Do not tighten Permeate Port connections more than one turn past hand tight.
  • Do not operate the vessel without connecting both Permeate Ports internally or plugging ports internally to prevent feed pressure exposure to external piping.
  • Do not install Spacer on the downstream end of the vessel.
  • Do not operate the vessel without the Thrust Cone installed downstream.
  • Do not pressurize the vessel until verifying the Locking Ring is in place and fully seated.
  • Do not tolerate leaks or allow end closures to be routinely wetted.
