Summary
Product identification
The MHCA-8-40 is a medium-pressure membrane housing designed for 40 bar operation, primarily for the food and beverage industry. It is suitable for NF (Nanofiltration) and RO (Reverse Osmosis) filtration processes to reduce or eliminate microbials in liquid-containing products such as juice, beer, soy, whey, milk, milk powder, and chocolate.
The membrane housing is manufactured from EN 1.4404 (AISI 316L) stainless steel, featuring a sanitary surface finish compliant with 3A sanitary standards. The inside surface roughness is ≤ 0.8 µm, and the outside surface roughness is ≤ 1.6 µm.
It is designed to house 7.9" x 38" (8038) membrane elements and can accommodate from 1 to 6 elements. Two main models, A and C, denote different Feed and Retentate connection arrangements; other arrangements are also available.
Operating limits
- Maximum pressure: 40 barg
- Maximum temperature: 70°C
Mechanical / hydraulic
The membrane housing features Clamp ferrule connections for Feed, Retentate, and Permeate. Tri-clamp connections are used, and SH or SSH clamps are recommended for the 40 bar pressure rating. The unit should be installed with the Retentate outlet at the highest point for optimal air venting.
Connection Sizes (examples of available types):
- Feed and Retentate connections:
- Ø63.5, Ø51, Ø38, Ø25 (in accordance with ISO 2852-2)
- DN50, DN40, DN25 (in accordance with DIN 32676-A)
- 2.5", 2", 1.5", 1" (in accordance with DIN 32676-C)
- Permeate end connections:
- Ø38, Ø25 (in accordance with ISO 2852-2)
- DN40, DN25 (in accordance with DIN 32676-A)
- 1.5", 1" (in accordance with DIN 32676-C)
General Dimensions and Weights: The dimensions, volume, and dry weight vary significantly depending on the number of elements installed (1 to 6) and the specific connection configuration (Model A or C and connection sizes).
- For a 1-element housing:
- Volume: 40 liters
- Dry Weight: 42 kg
- For a 6-element housing:
- Volume: 199 liters
- Dry Weight: 122 kg
Detailed dimensional data (total length, head length, clamp length, element length, internal diameter) for each specific model and connection type is available in the official PDF.
Regulatory Compliance
The membrane housing is designed and manufactured in accordance with:
- European Commission regulation No. 2023/2006 (Good Manufacturing Practices)
