Summary

Product Identification

This document provides an overview for Tubular Heat Exchangers manufactured by Wila A/S under the category “THEA”. These heat exchangers are designed for medium pressure applications, specifically up to 40 barg. The housing is constructed from EN.1.4404 (AISI 316L) stainless steel with a sanitary surface finish.

The heat exchanger consists of two pressure chambers:

  • Tube side (Product side): Comprises the interior of all tubes within the tube bundle.
  • Shell side (Service side): Comprises the exterior of the tube bundle and the interior of the exchanger's outer shell.

The internal surface roughness is ≤ 0.8 µm, and the external surface roughness is ≤ 1.6 µm. All fluid media must be compatible with EN.1.4404 (AISI 316L) Stainless Steel.

Operating Limits

The heat exchangers are designed for fluid-to-fluid heat transfer (heating or cooling) and are rated for a maximum product side pressure of 40 barg (580 PSI).

Service Side Limits (Maximum Steam Pressure and Temperature)

  • 0.5 m² and 1 m²: 10 bar[g] / 185°C
  • 2 m²: 8 bar[g] / 176°C
  • 3 m²: 6 bar[g] / 165°C
  • 4 m² and 6 m²: 3 bar[g] / 144°C
  • 8 m²: 2.3 bar[g] / 136°C

For pressure and temperature limits with fluids other than steam, refer to the "Heat exchangers – pressure and temperature relations" document.

Group Specifications and Model Codes

The general model code structure is:

  • THEA-xx-xxx-40: Where 'xx' denotes the heat transfer surface area in m² (.5, 01, 02, 03, 04, 06, 08) and 'xxx' indicates the shell diameter in mm (129 or 209). The '40' signifies a pressure rating up to 40 bar.
  • THEA-xx-xxx-yyy-zz: Includes additional parameters for tube side ('yyy') and shell side ('zz') clamp ferrule connections.
