Summary

Product identification

This document provides details for the Tubular Liquid Cooler, type ‘TLCXA’, manufactured by Wila A/S. These units are designed for medium pressure applications, rated up to 40 BAR.

General Description

The TLCXA Tubular Liquid Cooler is a fluid-to-fluid heat exchanger designed for both heating and cooling applications. It features two pressure chambers: the "Tube side" (also referred to as "Product side") within the tubes, and the "Shell side" (also referred to as "Service side") within the outer shell. The heat exchanger is constructed from EN.1.4404 (AISI 316L) stainless steel with a sanitary surface finish. The tube side is suitable for foodstuff fluids like dairy products and juices.

  • Tube side surface roughness: ≤ 0.8 µm
  • Shell side surface roughness: ≤ 1.6 µm
  • Material Compatibility: All fluid media must be compatible with EN.1.4404 (AISI 316L) Stainless Steel.

Operating Limits

  • Maximum Product Side Pressure: 40 BAR (580 PSI)
  • Maximum Product Side Temperature: 85°C
  • Maximum Service Side Pressure: 16 barg
  • Maximum Service Side Temperature: 95°C

The heat exchanger design is based on either a Ø129x2mm shell or a Ø209x3mm shell. Other sizes and pressure ratings are available.

Regulations and Directives

The heat exchanger is designed and manufactured in accordance with:

  • European Commission regulation No. 2023/2006 (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • European Parliament directive No. EN 1935/2004 (Food Contact Materials)
  • European Parliament directive No. EN 1907/2006 (Chemical Restrictions (REACH))
  • PED - Article 4.3 (SEP) in the European Parliament directive No. 2014/68/EU (Pressure Equipment Directive). Designed for fluid group 2 (non-dangerous fluids).
  • 3-A Sanitary Standards 00-01 / 12-08
