Product Identification

The Levelflex FMP56 and FMP57 are guided-wave radar level measurement devices.

Application

Designed for level measurement in bulk solids.

• Probe Types: Rod or rope probe.
• Process Connection: Thread (as of ¾") or flange.

Operating Limits

• Process Temperature: –40 to +185 °C (–40 to +365 °F).
• Process Pressure: –1 to +16 bar (–14.5 to +232 psi).

Measuring Range

• Rod Probe: Maximum measuring range of 4 m (13 ft).
• Rope Probe: Maximum measuring range of 45 m (148 ft).

• FMP56 (Rope Probes): Maximum 12 m (39 ft).
• FMP57 (Rod Probes): Maximum 4 m (13 ft).
• FMP57 (Rope Probes): Maximum 45 m (148 ft).

Note: Measuring range may be reduced for media with strong signal damping.

Blocking Distance

• Factory Setting (up to 8 m probes): 200 mm (8 in)
• Factory Setting (over 8 m probes): 0.025 × probe length
• Can generally be reduced to 100 mm (4 in) for media with εr > 7.0.
• No blocking distance applies in bypass/stilling wells.

Performance Characteristics

• Accuracy (Digital Output):
  • Measuring distance ≤ 15 m (49 ft): ±2 mm (±0.08 in)
  • Measuring distance > 15 m (49 ft): ±10 mm (±0.39 in)
• Accuracy (Analog Output): ±0.02 % of span.
• Non-repeatability: ≤ 1 mm (0.04 in).

Output Signals

• HART: FSK ±0.5 mA over current signal, 1200 Bit/s data transmission rate.
• Bluetooth® Wireless Technology: Requires order code 610, option NF. Operates via SmartBlue app, range > 10 m (33 ft).
• PROFIBUS PA: Manchester Bus Powered (MBP), 31.25 kBit/s, voltage mode.
• FOUNDATION Fieldbus: Manchester Bus Powered (MBP), 31.25 kBit/s, voltage mode.
• Switch Output: Open collector switch output, available for HART devices. Electrical connection data: U = 16 to 35 VDC, I = 0 to 40 mA.

Power Supply

• 2-wire, 4-20 mA HART (passive): Terminal voltage 11.5 to 35 V. Maximum load R depends on supply voltage U₀.
• 2-wire, 4-20 mA HART, switch output: Terminal voltage 13.5 to 35 V. Maximum load R depends on supply voltage U₀.
• 2-wire, 4-20 mA HART, 4-20 mA: Channel 1: 13.5 to 30 V. Channel 2: 12 to 30 V.
• 4-wire, 4-20 mA HART (active):
  • 10.4 to 48 VDC
  • 90 to 253 VAC (50 to 60 Hz)
• PROFIBUS PA, FOUNDATION Fieldbus: 9 to 32 V.

Power consumption varies by configuration, from < 0.9 W to 6 VA.
