Measuring Principle
The Micropilot uses a time-of-flight (ToF) method to measure the distance from a reference point to the product surface by emitting radar impulses, reflecting them off the surface, and receiving the echo. The distance (D) is calculated using D = c · t/2, where c is the speed of light and t is the time of flight. The level (L) is then calculated based on the known empty distance (E): L = E – D.
