Summary
Product identification
Product: Silopilot FMM50 Type: Electromechanical level system
Application
The Silopilot FMM50 is a level meter for bulk solids and fluids, offering a measuring principle independent of physical properties like mass density. It is suitable for:
- Measuring level in bunkers and silos with powdered, fine, or coarse grain bulk solids.
- Measuring level in vessels containing liquids.
- Level measurements up to 90 m.
- Applications with process temperatures up to +230 °C (+446 °F).
- Applications with process pressures up to 3 bar (43.5 psi) absolute.
- Use in aggressive atmospheres, such as acidic or caustic vapors.
- Separation layer detection in fluids with suitable sensing weights.
Benefits
- Suitable for process conditions where ultrasonic or radar level meters may fail.
- Precise level detection with an accuracy of ±5 cm or ±1 pulse.
- Compact transmitter with 0/4 - 20 mA current output and programmable signal outputs (e.g., counter pulse).
- Local operation via a 4-line text display with menu guidance.
- Digital minimum fail-safe control prevents sensor weight from damaging conveying systems.
Operating limits
- Process Temperature:
- -20 to +70 °C (-4 to +158 °F) (Option 1)
- -20 to +150 °C (-4 to +302 °F) (Option 2)
- -20 to +230 °C (-4 to +446 °F) (Option 3)
- Maximum process temperature at the unit from the bottom of the adaptor flange upwards is +70 °C (+158 °F).
- Process Pressure:
- 0.8 to 1.1 bar (12 to 16 psi) absolute (Option 1)
- 0.8 to 3.0 bar (12 to 43 psi) absolute (Option 2)
- Ambient Temperature:
- -20 to +70 °C (-4 to +158 °F)
- -40 to +70 °C (-40 to +158 °F) with self-regulating device heater.
- Storage Temperature: -40 to +80 °C (-40 to +176 °F).
- Maximum Measuring Range: 90 m.
Measuring principle
The FMM50 operates by lowering a sensing weight. When the weight contacts the medium, a motor tilts, signaling the electronics to stop the motor. The weight is then pulled up, and the distance is measured by counting pulses from the measuring tape.
