Summary
Product identification
- Product: Flow assembly for CUS52D turbidity sensor
- Model: CUA252
- Document: TI01139C/07/EN/04.20, 71508956, 2020-12-03
Application
The CUA252 flow assembly is designed for installing the CUS52D turbidity sensor in pipelines or closed pipes for sampling. It is suitable for:
- Turbidity measurement at all stages of water treatment.
- Final and inlet turbidity measurement in waterworks.
- Filter monitoring and backwashing.
- Turbidity measurement in drinking water networks.
The assembly is made of PE100 material, making it suitable for drinking water applications.
Function and system design
A complete measuring system comprises:
- Flow assembly Flowfit CUA252
- Sensor Turbimax CUS52D
- Transmitter (e.g., Liquiline CM442)
- Measuring cable
Installation
General instructions
- Install the flow assembly vertically.
- Connect the inflow at the bottom end for upward flow.
- Ensure no buckles or loops in the hose system.
- Align the sensor's optical windows against the direction of flow.
- Use the installation marking on the sensor for correct orientation.
- Only insert turbidity sensors with a 2" clamp.
Mounting options
- Wall or pipe mounting: Can be mounted using an optional wall holder unit.
- Bypass installation: Requires shut-off valves upstream and downstream for maintenance.
- Branch pipe with open outlet: Requires a shut-off valve upstream.
- Bubble trap: For managing gas bubbles, typically used with a 12 mm internal diameter PVC hose. The wastewater from the bubble trap is not suitable for process feedback.
Flow control
- Orifice plates are included for controlling volume flow:
- 1 mm (0.04 in) for volume flow < 60 l/h (15.8 gal/h)
- 3 mm (0.12 in) for volume flow 60 to 100 l/h (15.8 to 26.4 gal/h)
- 5 mm (0.2 in) for volume flow > 100 l/h (26.4 gal/h)
Operating limits
- Ambient temperature range: 0 to 55 °C (32 to 131 °F)
- Storage temperature: 0 to 60 °C (32 to 140 °F) (in original packaging)
- Process temperature range: 0 to 50 °C (32 to 122 °F)
- Process pressure range: 0 to 6 bar (0 to 87 psi)
- Flow velocity: Max. 2 m/s (6.6 ft/s) for low-viscosity media in pipes NW 50
- Recommended flow: 60 l/h (15.8 gal/h)
- Flow range: 10 to 100 l/h (2.64 to 26.4 gal/h)
- Pressure loss: < 0.05 bar (0.7 psi) for flow up to 100 l/h (26.4 gal/h)
Pressure-temperature ratings
See the official PDF for exact tabulated values and graphical representations of pressure-temperature ratings for the main assembly and the bubble trap.
