Summary

Product identification

Product: CUA262 Flow assembly Purpose: For installation of the CUS52D turbidity sensor in process water skids and closed pipe systems. Manufacturer: Endress+Hauser Document: TI01152C/07/EN/02.19

Application

The CUA262 is designed for direct installation of the CUS52D turbidity sensor into stainless steel pipes. It is suitable for:

  • Turbidity measurement at all process stages in water treatment skids.
  • Turbidity measurement in closed stainless steel pipe systems.
  • Turbidity monitoring in filter modules.

Benefits include direct process installation, no water loss, self-venting with vertical installation, and suitability for drinking water applications due to stainless steel material.

Function and system design

A complete measuring system comprises:

  • Flow assembly Flowfit CUA262
  • Sensor Turbimax CUS52D
  • Transmitter (e.g., Liquiline CM442)
  • Measuring cable

Installation

General Instructions

  • The flow assembly should be installed vertically.
  • Connect the inflow at the bottom end for upward flow in the pipe.
  • Avoid buckles and loops in hose systems.
  • Pay attention to sensor installation instructions regarding flow direction.

Wall Effects

Backscattering from the pipe wall can cause false measurements for turbidity values < 200 FNU.

  • If wall effects occur, change the orientation of the sensor.
  • Avoid sudden changes in cross-section; gradual changes should be located far from the sensor.
  • Do not install the sensor directly downstream from a bend; position it as far as possible from the bend.
  • For reflective materials like stainless steel, pipe diameter should be at least 100 mm (4 in). On-site adjustment of installation position is recommended.
  • Stainless steel pipes with diameter > DN 300 exhibit minimal wall effects.

Mounting the flow assembly

  1. Attach the flow assembly to the pipe as a weld-on element.
  2. Install the assembly vertically.
  3. Connect the inflow at the bottom end (upward flow).

Mounting the sensor

  • Only insert turbidity sensors with a 2" clamp into the assembly.
  • Install the sensor such that the optical windows are aligned against the direction of flow.
  • Use the installation marking on the sensor for correct orientation.

Environment

  • Ambient temperature range: 0 to 60 °C (32 to 140 °F)
  • Storage temperature: 0 to 60 °C (32 to 140 °F), in original packaging

Process

  • Process temperature range: 0 to 90 °C (32 to 194 °F)
  • Process pressure range: 0 to 10 bar (0 to 145 psi)

Mechanical construction

  • Dimensions: See diagram (Ø 64 / 2.52 in, Ø 100 / 3.94 in, Ø 104 / 4.09 in, 200 / 7.87 in, 164 / 6.46 in). DN 50.
  • Weight: 1.11 kg (2.45 lb)
  • Materials:
    • Assembly housing: Stainless steel 1.4404 (AISI 316 L)
