Summary
Product Identification
The Liquiline System CA80AL is a wet-chemical analyzer designed for the near-continuous determination of aluminum concentration in liquid media. It utilizes a colorimetric measuring principle.
Application
This analyzer is suitable for:
- Controlling phosphate precipitation in wastewater treatment plants.
- Monitoring precipitants in drinking water and wastewater treatment plants.
The "Cabinet, outdoor version" is designed for outdoor installation, mounting, and operation.
Key Features and Benefits
- Integrated controller with up to 2 measuring channels and digital Memosens technology.
- Expandable: Can be upgraded to a measuring station by connecting up to 4 Memosens sensors.
- Digital Fieldbuses: Supports protocols such as PROFINET, PROFIBUS DP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RS485, and Ethernet IP, along with an integrated web server.
- Easy Maintenance: Features simple, tool-free maintenance.
- Reliability: Memosens technology offers non-contact, digital signal transmission for improved safety and reliability, allowing for lab calibration.
- Data Logging: Includes integrated ring or stack memories for recording analog values, events, and analyzer data.
- Mathematical Functions: Capable of calculating up to 6 "virtual" process values using mathematical and Boolean operations.
Measuring Principle
The analyzer employs the Pyrocatechol violet method according to DIN ISO 10566. Catechol violet reacts with Al(III) in a buffered solution (pH 5.8-6.0) to form a blue dye. Absorption is measured at 568 nm, with absorption being proportional to aluminum concentration. A reference measurement is performed to compensate for interference influences.
Cross-Sensitivity
The following ions were tested and showed no observed cross-sensitivities up to the specified concentrations:
- 1000 mg/l (ppm): Cl⁻, SO₄²⁻
- 500 mg/l (ppm): Ca²⁺, K⁺, Na⁺
- 100 mg/l (ppm): NO₃⁻
- 10 mg/l (ppm): Zn²⁺
- 2 mg/l (ppm): F⁻
Measuring System Components
A complete measuring system includes the analyzer, reagents, cleaner, standard solutions, and optionally, sample conditioning units like:
- Liquiline System CAT810: Microfiltration (50 µm sieve filter).
- Liquiline System CAT820: Membrane filtration (0.1 µm or 0.4 µm ceramic membrane, or 0.04 µm plate filter).
- Liquiline System CAT860: Membrane filtration (0.1 µm or 0.4 µm ceramic membrane filter candle) with automatic backflush.
