Measuring Principle

The analyzer uses a colorimetric method, specifically the heteropoly blue method, for photometric silica determination.

  1. Silicate and phosphate react with molybdate in an acidic medium to form silicomolybdic and phosphomolybdic acid complexes.
  2. Citric acid is added to destroy the phosphate complex.
  3. An amino acid reduces the silicomolybdic acid to silicomolybdic blue.
  4. Absorption measurement is then directly proportional to the silica concentration.
