Summary
Product identification
The Liquiline System CA80TN is a wet-chemical analyzer designed for the near-continuous determination of total nitrogen (TN) in liquid media. It utilizes UV photometry with a colorimetric method, digesting nitrogen compounds at elevated temperatures and alkaline conditions to oxidize them to nitrate, which is then measured via UV absorption.
Application
This analyzer is suitable for:
- Monitoring wastewater treatment plant outlets
- Controlling surface water quality
- Monitoring and controlling industrial wastewater treatment
Key Features and Benefits
- Digital Memosens Technology: Enables digital, non-contact signal transmission for enhanced safety and reliability. Allows for sensor calibration in a laboratory, increasing process availability. Supports predictive maintenance by recording sensor data (operating hours, temperature, sterilizations).
- Expandability: Can be upgraded to a measuring station by connecting up to 4 Memosens sensors.
- Low Maintenance Costs: Designed for reduced maintenance requirements.
- Digital Fieldbuses: Supports various digital communication protocols including PROFINET, PROFIBUS DP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RS485, and Ethernet IP. Features an integrated web server.
- Modular Design: Allows for retrofitting extension modules for expanded functionality (e.g., additional current outputs, relays, digital communication).
- Data Logging: Features integrated ring or stack memories for recording analog values, events, and analyzer data. Supports up to 2 data logbooks with 20,000 entries each. Digital sensors can log up to 8 data logbooks with 150,000 entries each.
Measuring Principle
The analyzer employs UV photometry. A pulsed strobe lamp emits light that passes through the sample in a cuvette. A beam splitter directs the light to measuring and reference detectors. Filters allow specific wavelengths to pass. The ratio of the measuring to reference wavelength signals is calculated to minimize the effects of turbidity and lamp aging. This ratio change, which is non-linear, is converted to the total nitrogen concentration.
Measuring System Components
A complete measuring system includes:
- Liquiline System CA80TN analyzer
- Reagents and standard solutions (ordered separately)
- Suction strainer or optional Y strainer with process connection
