Summary
Product identification
The Liquiport 2010 CSP44 is an automatic sampler for liquid media with an integrated multi-parameter controller. It features two measuring channels and optional digital Memosens technology.
Applications
- Communal and industrial wastewater treatment plants
- Self-monitoring
- Process monitoring
- Monitoring of indirect dischargers
- Monitoring of canal networks
- Authorities and water management offices (water pollution control, water quality, monitoring of dischargers)
- Laboratories and hydrological institutes
Function and system design
A complete sampling unit comprises:
- Controller with display, soft keys, and navigator
- Vacuum or peristaltic pump for sampling
- PE or glass sample bottles for sample preservation
- Optional sampling chamber temperature regulator
- Suction line with suction head
The device utilizes a peristaltic pump for sampling, which operates in three steps: Rinse, Intake, and Drain. This system allows for multiple rinses of the suction line before taking a sample. The peristaltic pump uses rollers to deform a hose, creating suction. A patented medium detection system based on a pressure sensor identifies when the sample is drawn. The self-learning software automatically calculates the sample volume and adjusts for suction height and line length. An optional safety switch can immediately shut off the pump when opened.
Sample distribution
The Liquiport 2010 CSP44 offers flexible sample distribution. Users can configure individual bottles and bottle groups for main, switchover, and event programs. A distribution arm transfers the sample liquid into bottles. Options include a 20-liter composite container made of PE and various other bottle distributions that can be easily replaced.
Sample preservation
Sample bottles are stored in a sample compartment with a seamless plastic dish for easy cleaning. Removable parts that contact the medium can be cleaned easily without tools.
Sampling control
The sampler supports various sampling control methods:
- Time-proportional sampling (CTCV): A constant sample volume is taken at regular intervals.
- Volume-proportional sampling (VTCV): A constant sample volume is taken at variable intervals based on inflow volume. An optional time override can interrupt long, flow-controlled intervals with a time-controlled sample if flow is low.
- Flow-proportional sampling (CTVV): A variable sample volume (dependent on flow rate) is taken at regular intervals. This is only available with the peristaltic pump version.
- Event-controlled sampling: Sampling is triggered by an event, such as a pH limit value. Sampling can be time-paced, volume-paced, flow-paced, or single samples can be taken.
Single and multiple samples can be grouped within a program. The software allows for interval sampling, switchover, and event functions, with up to 24 subprograms active simultaneously. A sampling table enables programming of bottle assignment, time intervals, and sample volumes. External control signals can be connected via 2 analog inputs and 2 binary inputs in the standard version.
Intake speed with different suction lines
Intake speed varies with suction line diameter. For a 10 mm (3/8") ID peristaltic pump:
- Intake speed as per Ö 5893, US EPA: approx. 0.6 m/s to 1.0 m/s for suction heights of 3.3 m to 6.6 m.
- Intake speed as per EN 25667, ISO 5667: approx. 0.5 m/s to 1.2 m/s for suction heights of 2.0 m to 9.9 m.
Sampler housing
The housing material should be considered for outdoor installations. Plastic polystyrene VO may discolor in direct sunlight. Plastic ASA+PC V0 is recommended for outdoor installations without a sun guard. Discoloration does not affect functionality.
Dependability
Reliability
Memosens technology:
- Non-contact, digital signal transmission for galvanic isolation.
- No contact corrosion.
- Watertight design.
- Allows for laboratory sensor calibration, increasing measured value availability.
- Enables predictive maintenance through recording of sensor data (total hours of operation, hours at extreme values, hours at high temperatures, number of steam sterilizations, sensor condition).
Sensor check system (SCS): Monitors the high impedance of pH glass, triggering an alarm if minimum or maximum impedance values are exceeded (e.g., due to glass breakage, dry sensor, or worn membrane).
Process check system (PCS): Checks for stagnation in the measuring signal, triggering an alarm if the signal does not change over a period. Causes can include a fouled sensor, sensor outside the medium, or a process error.
Sensor condition check (SCC): Monitors electrode condition and aging, indicating "SCC electrode condition bad" or "SCC electrode condition OK."

The sampler features a modular design for easy adaptation and retrofitting of extension modules.
