Summary

Product identification

Liquistation CSF48 is a stationary sampler designed for automated removal, distribution, and temperature-controlled storage of liquid media. The standard product version includes two 0/4 to 20 mA analog inputs, two binary inputs, and two binary outputs. It is part of the Endress + Hauser Liquid analysis product line.

Application

  • Communal and industrial wastewater treatment plants
  • Laboratories and water management offices
  • Monitoring of liquid media in industrial processes

Operating principle

The Liquistation CSF48 can operate using a vacuum pump, a peristaltic pump, or a sampling assembly.

  • Vacuum Pump: Operates in four steps: Blow clear, Intake, Dose, and Drain. Level detection is performed using conductivity sensors or a capacitance sensor for specific media types. Dosing can be performed with or without pressure.
  • Peristaltic Pump: Operates in three steps: Rinse, Intake, and Drain. Features a patented medium detection system and automatic suction height detection.
  • Sampling Assembly: Involves three steps: Standby, Filling, and Emptying. An optional rinsing valve allows for draining under pressure and cleaning with compressed air or water. Designed for aqueous samples.

Sampling unit configurations

The sampler can be configured as a complete unit for:

  • Open channels: Typically includes the controller, a vacuum or peristaltic pump, sample bottles, an optional temperature regulator, and a suction line with a suction head.
  • Pressurized pipes: Includes the Liquistation and the Samplefit CSA420 sampling assembly, available in different sample volume configurations.

Online Measurement

The Liquistation CSF48 can be integrated into a measuring system with online sensors, such as those for Nitrate, Conductivity, Oxygen, Turbidity, and pH value/ORP, utilizing Memosens technology.

Sampling with a flow assembly

This setup is used for sampling in pressurized systems and requires a flow rate of 1000 to 1500 l/h. The flow assembly has a ¾" inflow and a 1¼" outflow connection.

Sample distribution and preservation

The sampler supports various bottle combinations and distribution versions. Sample bottles are located in a compartment that can be temperature-controlled.

  • Intake speed: > 0.5 m/s (for ≤ 13 mm ID) or > 0.6 m/s (for 10 mm ID), as per relevant standards.
  • Suction height:
    • Vacuum pump: Max. 6 m or max. 8 m
    • Peristaltic pump: Max. 8 m
  • Hose length: Max. 30 m
  • Temperature control (optional): Sample temperature range of 2 to 20 °C, factory setting of 4 °C. Cooling rate: 4 liters from 20 °C to 4 °C in under 210 minutes. Temperature constancy at 4 °C within an operating range of -15 to 40 °C.

Mounting

  • Mounting instructions: Requires a level surface and secure fastening. Allow for at least 150 mm clearance from walls for air circulation. Avoid direct exposure to heat sources or strong magnetic fields.
  • Mounting conditions: Suction line should have a downward gradient. Avoid aggressive gases and siphoning effects.

Environment

  • Ambient temperature range:
    • With cooling module: -20 to 40 °C
    • Without cooling module: 0 to 40 °C
    • With ASA+PC or stainless steel housing: -20 to 40 °C
    • With plastic polystyrene housing: 0 to 40 °C
  • Storage temperature: –20 to 60 °C
  • Relative humidity: 10 to 95 % (non-condensing)
  • Degree of protection:
    • Front dosing compartment: IP 54
    • Rear dosing compartment: IP 33
