Summary
Product identification
Orbisint CPS12, CPS12D, and CPS13 are ORP electrodes with Memosens technology. They feature a dirt-repellent PTFE diaphragm for standard applications in process and environmental technology.
Application
These electrodes are designed for:
- Long-term monitoring and limit monitoring of processes with stable conditions in industries such as paper, plastics chemistry, power plants (flue gas washers), incineration plants, food industry, and breweries.
- Water treatment applications including drinking water, cooling water, and well water.
Your benefits
- Low maintenance: Robust design with a large PTFE ring diaphragm.
- Durability: Suitable for applications under pressures of up to 16 bar (232 psi) and temperatures up to 135 °C (275 °F).
- Long service life: Achieved through a double junction system to protect against electrode poisons.
- Versatile measuring elements: Available for both oxidizing and reducing media.
- Multiple lengths: Offered in 120 mm, 225 mm, and 360 mm.
Memosens technology benefits (CPS12D)
- Maximum process safety: Contactless inductive signal transmission eliminates issues with moisture and corrosion at the connection. The transmitter is galvanically decoupled from the medium.
- Data safety: Digital data transmission ensures integrity and allows for automatic error messaging. Intrinsically safe integrated electronics are suitable for hazardous areas.
- Easy handling: Sensor-specific data (calibration, load history) are stored in the sensor, enabling calibration away from the process and quick sensor replacement. Predictive maintenance is possible.
- Flexibility: Allows for remote transmitter placement.
Measuring principle
Redox potential is measured using a platinum or gold electrode as the measuring element and an Ag/AgCl system as the reference electrode, similar to pH measurement.
General properties
- Low maintenance: Sterilizable PTFE ring diaphragm prevents blocking and ensures long-term stability.
- Long service life: Double junction system provides protection from electrode poisons.
- Durability: Pressure proof up to 16 bar / 232 psi and temperature resistant up to 135 °C / 275 °F, depending on the version.
Input
- Measured variable: Redox potential
- Measuring range: -1500 ... 1500 mV
Installation
- Orientation: Electrode should not be installed upside down. An inclination angle of at least 15° from the horizontal is required to prevent air cushion formation.
- Torque: Hand-tighten the electrode to 3 Nm (applies to Endress+Hauser assemblies).
Environment
- Ambient temperature: Not specified, but caution is advised against temperatures below -15 °C / 5 °F due to frost damage risk.
- Storage temperature: 0 ... 50 °C / 32 ... 122 °F
- Ingress protection:
- IP 67 for GSA plug-in head (with closed connection).
- IP 68 for TOP 68 plug-in head (1 m / 3.28 ft, 50 °C / 122 °F, 168 h).
- IP 68 for Memosens plug-in head (10 m / 32.8 ft, 25 °C / 77 °F, 45 days, 1 M KCl).
Process
- Process temperature: -15 ... 135 °C / 5 ... 275 °F
- Process pressure: 0 ... 16 bar / 0 ... 232 psi
Mechanical construction
- CPS12/CPS12D: Available with gold pin (for oxidizing media) or platinum ring (for reducing media) measuring surfaces.
- CPS13: A single reference electrode designed for use with pH electrodes.
- Shaft lengths: 120 mm, 225 mm, 360 mm. (Note: CPS13 has an 80 mm / 3.15" option for CPA320).
- Process connection: Pg 13.5
- Reference system: Ag/AgCl lead with Advanced Gel filling.
- Electrode shaft: Glass.
- Diaphragm: Ring-shaped Teflon® diaphragm, sterilisable.
Certificates and approvals
- Ex approval (CPS12/CPS13): ATEX II 1G EEX ia IIC T3/T4/T6; FM Class I Div. 2.
- Ex approval (CPS12D): ATEX II 1G EEX ia IIC T3/T4/T6; FMa / CSAa Class I Div. 2.
- Note: Ex digital sensors with Memosens technology have an orange-red ring on the plug-in head.
- Biocompatibility: Validated according to ISO 10993-5 and USP.
- TÜV certificate: TOP68 and Memosens plug-in heads have pressure resistance of 16 bar with triple overpressure safety.
- Electromagnetic compatibility (CPS12D): Complies with EN 61326: 1997 / A1: 1998.
Measuring system
A complete system includes the CPS electrode, a compatible transmitter (e.g., Liquisys M CPM223/253 or Liquiline M CM42 for Memosens), a special measuring cable (e.g., CPK9 or CYK10 for Memosens), and an assembly (e.g., Cleanfit P CPA472).
Accessories
A range of assemblies, buffer solutions, transmitters, and measuring cables are available.
