Summary
Product identification
The OUSAF11 is an optical sensor designed for measuring VIS/NIR absorption of liquids. It is part of the Endress + Hauser Liquid Analysis product line.
Application
This sensor is used for:
- Interphase detection
- Applications in the food and beverage industry, including:
- Milk detection in CIP solutions
- Phase separation (e.g., milk/water)
- Product loss detection in outlets
- Measurement of solids in:
- Primary industry
- Mining
Your benefits
- Cost savings and less product loss: Achieved through fast interphase detection.
- High degree of product safety: Features a non-glass, robust, and hygienic design with FDA-compliant materials and 3-A certification. It is also CIP/SIP-resistant.
- Easy maintenance: Saves time and costs.
- Flexibility:
- Submersible sensor for open tanks and basins.
- Insertion sensor with Triclamp or Varivent connection for hygienic applications in pipes and vessels.
- Color-independent measurement with an optional NIR detector.
Operating limits
- Operating temperature range (sensor): 0 to 90 °C (32 to 190 °F)
- Ambient temperature range: 0 to 55 °C (32 to 130 °F)
- Storage temperature: -20 to +70 °C (0 to 160 °F)
- Humidity: 5 to 95 %

- Lamp operating life: Typically 10,000 h
- Detector: VIS/NIR silicon detectors, hermetically sealed
- Filter: NIR or broadband filter, integrated in detector
- Degree of protection: IP 67 (NEMA 4) for all optical parts; IP 68 when mounting with CYH112.
Installation
- The sensor can be installed up to the horizontal in an assembly, support, or suitable process connection. Other angles of inclination are not recommended.
- Avoid vertical installation through the floor of a pipe to prevent sedimentation.
- For pipe installations, the pipe diameter must be at least 50 mm (2").
- Install in locations with consistent flow conditions, preferably in the ascending pipe.
- Avoid areas where air pockets, foam bubbles can form, or where suspended particles can settle.
- Align the sensor so that the medium flows through the measuring gap for a self-cleaning effect.
- Permitted mounting angle: 0 to 180°.
Certificates and approvals
- CE mark
- FDA conformity (non-metal parts in contact with medium meet FDA 21 CFR 177.2600; USP <87> and <88> Class VI)
- 3-A certified for versions with Tri-Clamp and Varivent process connections.
