Summary
Industrial thermowell TT511
Application
The TT511 is an industrial thermowell designed for demanding applications, primarily in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industries. It features a Vanstone design with a collar flange, meaning the process connection flange is not welded to the thermowell stem, allowing for flexible use with various resistance and thermocouple thermometers.
Your Benefits
- Constructed from solid drilled barstock material.
- Meets industry-specific requirements with a standard product.
- Flexible selection of immersion length and thermowell geometry.
- Complies with Shell specifications S.38.113 rev.D and S.38.114 rev.D.
- Offers cost-effectiveness through flange reuse and independent material selection for the flange.
- Reduces spare parts and inventory needs.
Function and System Design
The TT511 is a special thermowell designed for thermometer installation. The thermowell shaft and the process connection flange are separate components. During installation, the thermowell's collar is fitted between two flanges. The flange on the thermowell side is a slip-on type bolted to the process connection nozzle.
Installation
- Orientation: No restrictions.
- Installation Instructions: The immersion length (U) can influence measurement accuracy. For pipes, the immersion length is ideally half the pipe diameter. All relevant process parameters must be considered when determining installation depth. Counterpieces for process connections and seals are not included.
Process
- Process Temperature Range: Refer to the 'Material' section for maximum operating temperatures.
- Process Pressure (static):
- Flange EN1092-1: 40 bar, 63 bar, 100 bar, or 160 bar, depending on flange pressure rating.
- Flange ASME B16.5: 150 psi, 300 psi, 400 psi, 600 psi, 900 psi, 1500 psi, 2500 psi, depending on flange pressure rating.
- Permitted Flow Velocity: Diminishes with increasing immersion length exposed to the flow. It is also dependent on thermowell shape, medium type, process temperature, and pressure.
- Thermowell Sizing Tool: Available online via the Endress+Hauser Applicator software for mechanical loading capacity calculations.
Mechanical Construction
Dimensions (Type 1: Vanstone thermowell)
- Versions: DN40 (NPS 1-½") and DN50 (NPS 2").
- Dimensions: Various lengths (L, LT, U, R, ML, TL, N) and diameters (⌀A, ⌀B, ⌀Q1, ⌀Q2) are specified for different configurations.
- Insertion Length (ML) Calculation: ML = LT - 19 mm (0.75 in)
Dimensions (Type 2: Vanstone thermowell)
- Versions: DN25 and DN50.
- Dimensions: Various lengths (L, U, ML) and diameters (Q1, Q2) are specified.
- Insertion Length (ML) Calculation: ML = L + 5 mm (0.197 in)
Weight: Variable, depending on version and standard length. Examples include:
- DN40 (NPS 1½"): 1.9 kg (4.2 lb) with L = 305 mm (12 in)
- DN40 (NPS 2"): 2.3 kg (5 lb) with L = 230 mm (9.05 in)
- DN25 (round tip): 0.6 kg (1.32 lb) with L = 300 mm (11.81 in)
- DN50 (round tip, welded collar): 1.1 kg (2.43 lb) with L = 300 mm (11.81 in)
