Summary

Product Identification

  • Product Name: MLTTS00
  • Description: Modular thermometer for use in the Oil & Gas industry.

Function and System Design

Measuring Principle

  • Resistance Thermometer (RTD): Uses a Pt100 sensor (100 Ω at 0 °C) with a temperature coefficient α = 0.003851 °C⁻¹.
    • Wire Wound (WW): Good reproducibility and long-term stability up to 600 °C, but larger and sensitive to vibrations.
    • Thin Film (TF): Smaller size, better vibration resistance, but may deviate from IEC 60751 standard at high temperatures. Typically used below 400 °C.
  • Thermocouples (TC): Utilize the Seebeck effect to measure temperature differences. Material combinations are standardized by IEC 60584 and ASTM E230/ANSI MC96.1.

Operating Limits

Measuring Range

  • RTD: –50 to +500 °C (–58 to +932 °F)
  • TC: –40 to +1100 °C (–40 to +2012 °F)

Operating Conditions

  • Ambient Temperature (Terminal Head):
    • Without mounted head transmitter: Depends on terminal head and cable gland/fieldbus connector.
    • With mounted head transmitter: –40 to 85 °C (–40 to 185 °F)
    • With mounted head transmitter and display: –20 to 70 °C (–4 to 158 °F)
  • Process Pressure: Dependent on the thermowell used.
  • Permitted Flow Velocity: Diminishes with increasing immersion length; dependent on thermowell tip diameter, medium, temperature, and pressure.

Shock and Vibration Resistance

  • RTD: 3G / 10 to 500 Hz (IEC 60751)
  • TC: 4G / 2 to 150 Hz (IEC 60068-2-6)
