- Uses a Pt100 temperature sensor according to IEC 60751.
- Resistance: 100 Ω at 0 °C (32 °F).
- Temperature coefficient: α = 0.003851 °C⁻¹.
- Types of platinum resistance thermometers:
- Wire wound (WW): Suitable for temperatures up to 600 °C (1112 °F). Offers good long-term stability but is sensitive to vibrations.
- Thin film (TF): Smaller size and better vibration resistance. Tight tolerance category A as per IEC 60751 observed up to approx. 300 °C (572 °F). Generally used below 400 °C (932 °F).
Response time
- Tests in water at 0.4 m/s (1.3 ft/s), 10 K temperature step change (Pt100, TF/WW, without transmitter):
- Reduced tip (∅ 5.3 mm): t50 = 7.5 s, t90 = 21 s
- Tapered tip (∅ 6.6 mm or ∅ 9 mm): t50 = 11 s, t90 = 37 s
- Straight tip (9 x 1 mm): t50 = 18 s, t90 = 55 s
- Protection tube 11 x 2 mm: t50 = 7.5 s, t90 = 21 s (reduced tip), t50 = 18 s, t90 = 55 s (tapered tip)
- Protection tube 12 x 2.5 mm: t50 = 11 s, t90 = 37 s (tapered tip), t50 = 38 s, t90 = 125 s (welded tip)
Material
- AISI 316L / 1.4404, 1.4435: Max. recommended temperature for continuous use in air: 650 °C (1200 °F). High corrosion resistance, especially in chlorine-based and acidic, non-oxidizing atmospheres.
- AISI 316Ti / 1.4571: Max. recommended temperature for continuous use in air: 700 °C (1292 °F). Increased resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding.
Terminal heads
- TA30A / TA30A with display window / TA30D: Aluminum, polyester powder coated. Degree of protection: IP66/68 (IP66/67 for ATEX). Max. temperature: 150 °C (300 °F).
- TA30P: Polyamide (PA), antistatic. Degree of protection: IP65. Max. temperature: 120 °C (248 °F). Suitable for hazardous locations (Ex ia).
- TA20B: Polyamide (PA). Degree of protection: IP65. Max. temperature: 80 °C (176 °F). 3-A® marked.
- TA21E: Aluminum alloy. Degree of protection: IP65. Max. temperature: 130 °C (266 °F) (silicone seal), 100 °C (212 °F) (rubber seal). 3-A® marked.
- TA20R: Stainless steel SS 316L (1.4404). Degree of protection: IP66/67. Max. temperature: 100 °C (212 °F). LABS-free, 3-A® marked.

Diameters available: ∅ 3 mm (0.12 in), ∅ 6 mm (0.24 in), 9 x 1 mm (0.35 in), 11 x 2 mm (0.43 in), 12 x 2.5 mm (0.47 in).
Tip shape
Available tip shapes include reduced, tapered, and straight, according to DIN 43772. Welded tips are also available.
