Summary
Product identification
RTD TH11 and TH12 general purpose RTD with terminal head or conductor extension lead wires for process and laboratory applications.
Areas of application
The TH11 and TH12 temperature sensors are RTDs designed for use in the process industry or factory automation. They are made up of a measurement probe with an RTD, insulation, and sheath.
Applications include:
- Heat exchangers
- Power & recovery area
- Carbon regeneration furnace
- Dryers
- Flue Gas
- Compressor stations
- Process reactors
Measuring principle
These resistance thermometers use a Pt100 temperature sensor according to IEC 60751. The sensor has a resistance of 100 Ω at 0 °C (32 °F) and a temperature coefficient of α = 0.003851 °C⁻¹.
Two types of platinum resistance thermometers are available:
- Wire wound (WW): Platinum wire in a ceramic support, sealed with a protective layer. Suitable for temperatures up to 600 °C (1112 °F). Relatively large and sensitive to vibrations.
- Thin film (TF): Thin platinum layer on a ceramic substrate. Smaller size and better vibration resistance. Tight limit values of tolerance category A as per IEC 60751 are observable up to approximately 300 °C (572 °F). Generally used for temperatures below 400 °C (932 °F).
Equipment architecture
The single element RTDs are designed for process and laboratory applications within temperature ranges of -200 to 600 °C (-328 to 1112 °F).
- Low range thin film RTDs: -50 to 200 °C (-58 to 392 °F). Constructed with silver plated copper internal leads and PTFE wire insulation.
- High range RTDs: -200 to 600 °C (-328 to 1112 °F). Constructed with nickel internal leads inside swaged MgO insulated cable.
Measurement range
- Low temperature range (thin film): TH11/TH12 models can cover -50 to 200 °C (-58 to 392 °F).
- High temperature range (wire wound): TH11/TH12 models can cover -200 to 600 °C (-328 to 1112 °F).
