Summary
Product identification
DULCOTEST® sensors for bromine measurement are available for various applications.
Sensor types
- BCR 1-mA: For total available bromine from BCDMH and other oxidative-acting bromine organic disinfectants, and total chlorine. Suitable for contaminated water and high pH values (up to 9.5). Designed for controllers with mA input.
- BRE 3-CAN-P: For free and combined bromine, also for use with slightly contaminated water. For use on controllers with CAN-bus connection.
- CBR 1-mA: For free chlorine and bromine, and combined bromine (bromamines). Suitable for contaminated water and high pH values (up to 9.5). For use with controllers with 4-20 mA input.
- CBR 1-CAN-P: For free chlorine and bromine, and combined bromine (bromamines). Suitable for contaminated water and high pH values (up to 9.5). For use on controllers with CAN-bus connection.
Operating limits
General
- Temperature: 5 to 45 °C (BCR 1-mA, BRE 3-CAN-P) or 1 to 40 °C (CBR 1-mA, CBR 1-CAN-P).
- Max. pressure: 1.0 bar (BCR 1-mA, CBR 1-mA, CBR 1-CAN-P) or 3.0 bar (BRE 3-CAN-P).
- pH range: 5.0 to 9.5 (BCR 1-mA) or 5 to 9.5 (CBR 1-mA, CBR 1-CAN-P). BRE 3-CAN-P notes pH dependence; sensitivity is reduced if pH changes from 7 to 8 by approx. 10% for DBDMH/free bromine and approx. 25% for BCDMH.
- Intake flow: 30 to 60 l/h.
Feed water
Resistance
Sensors are designed to resist:
- Dirt films, biofilms, surfactants
- Salts, acids, alkalis
Product water
Measured variables
- BCR 1-mA: Total available bromine from BCDMH (1-bromo-3-chloro-5,5-dimethylhydantoin) and N-bromamido-sulphonate, total chlorine.
- BRE 3-CAN-P: Total available bromine from DBDMH (1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethyl-hydantoin), BCDMH (1-bromo-3-chloro-5,5-dimethyl-hydantoin), free bromine (HOBr, OBr⁻).
- CBR 1-mA & CBR 1-CAN-P: Free chlorine, free bromine, combined bromine (bromamines), DBDMH (1,3-dibrom-5,5-dimethyl-hydantoin).
- For CBR 1-mA and CBR 1-CAN-P: Measuring range is based on chlorine. When measuring bromine, the lower and upper limit of the measuring range are increased by the factor 2.25.
Reference methods
- DPD4 (BCR 1-mA)
- DPD1 for DBDMH and free bromine; DPD4 for BCDMH (BRE 3-CAN-P)
- DPD1 (CBR 1-mA, CBR 1-CAN-P)
Electrical
Supply voltage
- BCR 1-mA & CBR 1-mA: 16 to 24 V DC (two-wire)
- BRE 3-CAN-P & CBR 1-CAN-P: Via CAN interface (11 to 30 V or 11–30 V DC).
Output signal
- BCR 1-mA & CBR 1-mA: 4 to 20 mA (measuring range, temperature-compensated, uncalibrated, not electrically isolated).
- BRE 3-CAN-P & CBR 1-CAN-P: Digital (CANopen, uncalibrated, temperature-compensated, galvanically isolated for CBR 1-CAN-P).
Mechanical / hydraulic
Sensor fitting
- DGM, DLG III (or DLG II for CBR 1-mA and CBR 1-CAN-P).
Installation
- Bypass: open sample water outlet.
