Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: DuPont™ AmberLite™ CR5550 Chromatographic Separation Resin
- Type: Food-grade, Gel, Weak Base Anion Resin
- Manufacturer: DuPont
Description
AmberLite™ CR5550 is a chromatographic separation resin specifically designed for purifying organic acids and improving separations where other acrylic weak base resins are currently used. Its flexible acrylic polymer matrix offers excellent physical stability and superior resistance to organic fouling compared to polystyrene-based resins, potentially leading to a longer service life. This resin has a higher basicity than other weakly basic ion exchange resins and contains no strongly basic functional sites, making it suitable for removing weak organic acids.
Applications
- Organic acid purification

Hydraulic Characteristics
Estimated bed expansion as a function of backwash flowrate and temperature is shown in Figure 1. Estimated pressure drop as a function of service flowrate and temperature is shown in Figure 2. These pressure drop expectations are valid at the start of the service run with clean water and a well-classified bed.
- Figure 1: Backwash Expansion: Temperature = 20 – 40°C (68 – 104°F)
- Figure 2: Pressure Drop: Temperature = 20°C (68°F)
