Summary
Product identification
- Product Name: AMBERLITE™ FPA42 Cl Ion Exchange Resin
- Description: Food-grade, Gel, Strong Base Anion Exchange Resin
- Manufacturer: DuPont™
- Form Number: 45-D00753-en, Rev. 2
- Date: September 2019
Description
AMBERLITE™ FPA42 Cl is a high-capacity, uniform particle size, gel, Type I strong base anion exchanger. It is intended for general demineralization and deashing in applications with low risk of fouling from colored bodies and organics. Its particle size uniformity is optimized for mixed-bed applications. It can be used as a direct substitute for conventional gel anion exchange resins in new and existing demineralizers.
Applications
- Sweetener deashing
- Demineralization

Hydraulic Characteristics
Estimated bed expansion as a function of backwash flowrate and temperature is shown in Figure 1. Estimated pressure drop (in water) as a function of service flowrate and temperature is shown in Figure 2. These pressure drop expectations are valid at the start of the service run with clean water and a well-classified bed.
- Temperature for Backwash Expansion Figure: 5 – 40°C (41 – 104°F)
- Temperature for Pressure Drop Figure: 5 – 60°C (41 – 140°F)
