Description
DuPont™ AmberLite™ FPA52RF Ion Exchange Resin is a high-capacity, polystyrene, weak base anion exchanger. It features outstanding mechanical and osmotic stability, making it suitable for treating solutions with relatively high dissolved solids, including demineralization of food solutions such as gelatin, citrus juices, sugar juices, sucrose, glucose, and lactose. The resin is highly efficient for strong acid uptake (e.g., HCl and H₂SO₄) when used after a strong acid cation exchanger in the H-form. Its macroporous structure facilitates excellent adsorption and desorption of organic matter. The RF-grade AmberLite™ FPA52RF has reduced fines, which improves system pressure drop and lowers resin losses during backwash.
Key Applications
- Sweetener deashing
- Juice demineralization
- Gelatin demineralization
- Juice deacidification

Hydraulic Characteristics
Estimated bed expansion as a function of backwash flowrate and temperature is shown in Figure 1. Estimated pressure drop as a function of service flowrate and temperature is shown in Figure 2. These pressure drop expectations are valid at the start of the service run with clean water and a well-classified bed.
