AmberLite FPA98 Cl

PDF datasheet mirror for AmberLite FPA98 Cl (DuPont). Verify with OEM before design.

Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: AMBERLITE™ FPA98 Cl Ion Exchange Resin
  • Type: Food- and Biopharmaceutical-grade, Acrylic, Macroporous, Strong Base Anion Exchange Resin
  • Intended Use: Cane Sugar Decolorization and Biopharmaceutical Processing

Description

AMBERLITE™ FPA98 Cl is a Type I strong base anion resin with a crosslinked acrylic matrix. It is designed for the decolorization of liquid sugar syrups and is effective in biopharmaceutical processing for removing high molecular weight organic color bodies. Advantages include excellent desorption of organic color bodies during regeneration, leading to lower fouling compared to polystyrene-based resins, and good physical stability.

Applications

  • Cane sugar decolorization
  • Bioprocessing decolorization
  • Heparin purification

Hydraulic Characteristics

Bed expansion and pressure drop data are provided in Figures 1 and 2, respectively (in the original document). These figures are based on backwash flowrate, temperature, service flowrate, and viscosity. Pressure drop expectations are valid at the start of service with clean feed and a well-classified bed.

  • Temperature for Figures: 5 – 60°C (41 – 140°F)
  • Viscosity for Figures: 1 – 10 cP

Limits of Use

For specific pharmaceutical and food processing applications, it is recommended to consult with DuPont for proper resin selection and usage.
