Summary

Product identification

  • Product Name: AmberLite™ HPR550 Cl Ion Exchange Resin
  • Type: Uniform Particle Size, Gel, Strong Base Anion Exchange Resin
  • Previous Name: DOWEX MONOSPHERE™ 550A Ion Exchange Resin

Description

AmberLite™ HPR550 Cl Ion Exchange Resin is a premium-quality, high-capacity resin designed for high purity industrial demineralization and condensate polishing in power stations. Its small average particle size contributes to exceptional bead integrity and rapid exchange kinetics, suitable for high flowrate demands. The uniform bead size and light color are intended to complement AmberLite™ HPR650 H Ion Exchange Resin, allowing for easy visual confirmation of separation. It can serve as an alternative to the OH-form when treating water with a high silica content or when maximizing silica removal is a goal.

Applications

  • Mixed bed condensate polishing in fossil power plants
  • Mixed bed polishing in industrial demineralization
  • Demineralization, particularly when treating water with a high percentage of silica or when the goal is removal of strong and weak acids with the lowest silica leakage.
  • Single bed industrial demineralization requiring high water purity.

Resin Pairings

  • Recommended: AmberLite™ HPR650 H Ion Exchange Resin (gel)
  • Additional Options:
    • AmberLite™ HPR1600 H Ion Exchange Resin (gel)
    • AmberLite™ HPR2000 H Ion Exchange Resin (macroporous) – for external regeneration systems

Operating above 60 – 70°C (140 – 158°F) may impact loop purity and resin life.

Hydraulic Characteristics

Estimated bed expansion and pressure drop are detailed in Figures 1 and 2 respectively, as functions of backwash flowrate, service flowrate, and temperature. These figures are valid at the start of the service run with clean water.

  • Figure 1 (Backwash Expansion): Temperature 10 – 60°C (50 – 140°F)
  • Figure 2 (Pressure Drop): Temperature 10 – 60°C (50 – 140°F)

Product Stewardship

DuPont emphasizes product stewardship to ensure safety, health, and environmental protection throughout the product lifecycle. Users are encouraged to review manufacturing processes and applications to ensure proper and safe use. Safety Data Sheets should be consulted prior to use.

WARNING: Oxidizing agents can attack ion exchange resins, potentially causing degradation or violent reactions. Consult knowledgeable sources before using strong oxidizing agents.
