Summary
Product Identification
- Product Name: AmberLite™ HPR9700 Ion Exchange Resin
- Type: Macroporous, Weak Base Anion Exchange Resin
- Previous Name: AmberLite™ IRA96RF Ion Exchange Resin
Description
AmberLite™ HPR9700 is a high-quality ion exchange resin designed for industrial demineralization applications requiring high performance and cost-effective operation. It aims to balance operating capacity with low pressure drop, while reducing regenerant and water usage. This weak base anion resin is suitable for use with strong base anion resins to enhance demineralization system efficiency and throughput. It effectively removes mineral acids and organics, thereby reducing the ionic load on strong base anion resins and protecting them from organic fouling. The macroporous structure facilitates the release of natural organic molecules, offering excellent resistance to organic fouling.
Applications
- Demineralization, particularly for water with:
- High organic fouling potential
- High percentage of mineral acidity (FMA)
- Partial demineralization where weak acid removal is not required.
System Designs
- Co-current
- Counter-current / Hold-down
- Packed beds

Hydraulic Characteristics
Estimated bed expansion and pressure drop data as a function of backwash flowrate and service flowrate, respectively, are presented graphically in Figures 1 and 2. These figures are valid at the start of the service run with clean water and a well-classified bed.
- Backwash Expansion (Figure 1): Temperature = 10 – 60°C (50 – 140°F)
- Pressure Drop (Figure 2): Temperature = 10 – 60°C (50 – 140°F)
